Im starting to think my form is off because i been doing 5 reps and 3 sets of 55lb on bicep curls but i am not increasing. and also how do you measure when you need to add more weight or should add more sets or reps or what ever. Like basically whats a good way to tell your ready to bump up the weight. My friend tells me to do 8-12 reps 3 sets, when u hit 12 increase weight. But i thought to increase strength u should go most weight you can low reps high sets..
HELP?
Just started working out and i can bench around 130, but how do i know when i should move to 135 or 140? i can do 10 reps with 130, but i dont know at what number of reps i should increase the weights
I’m a mesomorphic which means i build muscle easier then the avg. person. Very stocky frame and i look a lot stronger than i am to give you an idea.
But in general how often should a person increase their reps when they bench press? And how often should a person add weight to their bench press?
When someone says they can bench 150lbs does that include the bar? How much does the bar weigh? I am pretty sure it weighs 45lbs but i am not positive.
Low rep, heavy weight sets. 2-5 reps x3 sets and you’ll start to see and increase in your max. Start with two rep sets and work your way up to five. When you can fo 5 reps x 3 sets, add weight. Make sure you use a spotter though.
i want to be able to bench as much weight as I can
will doing low reps of 4 sets of 3 help?
or should I i do my usual high reps of 10 sets of 4-5 and increase the weight by 5lbs every 2 weeks help?
i dont want to build muscle i just want to be able to bench press more weight
hello i weightlift a lot and i love building muscle….theres one problem i havnt grown fully yet….i am going through puberty and i dont want to ruin growth by weightlifting…but if i stop weightlifting my muscles willbe shorter and and will lose my max bench press and all that kind of stuff….I was wondering what kind of benching do i do…..i know that maxing out can hurt your growth seriously so i dont do thata lot…maybe only 1 time every 2 mounths……So is there something i could do to not affect growth and still weightlift….it is my greatest hobbie. Maybe i could do 3 sets of eight and keep working my way up(raising the weight) and how many times a week do you think i should do this…thank you for all the help!
my max weight is 120 but i dont want to force it right. i’m doing 4 sets, adding 10lbs on each. i start at 75 up to 105. Would it be prudent to add 5 lbs each week, up to my max, exercising 5 days a week and healing on weekends?
Alright I am a 14 year old 5’7 I weigh about 144. I will be 15 in october. I play football, I wrestle, and I just started shotput for track. I am going to be a freshman in a week.
I am looking to increase my strength, not size.
When I bench press I usually do 3 sets.
1st set= 12 reps of 115 pounds
2nd set=10 reps of 125
3rd set=6-8 reps of 135 pounds
Im sure I could bench 145 4-6 times.
This is all free weight btw.
For deadlifts i currently do regular deadlits, romanian deadlifts, and sumo deadlifts in the same order for 3 sets.
1st set=12 reps of 125 pounds
2nd set=10 reps of 135 pounds
3rd set=8 reps of 145 pounds
I know I should be able to deadlift a lot more, I just started doing them about 3-4 weeks ago and I started at 105-115 and ended at about 125-135 cant exactly remember.
I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what I should to do increase my overall strength and weight when using the bench and deadlift.
I am not looking for comments from other teens stating that they can bench more and dadadahadah. Im not worried about what you can and cannot bench!
I appreciate all suggestions. Thanks! =)
im stuck at 120 and i cant get up past that. i’m 5’7″ and 128 lbs. what are some ways i can increase the weight.
